County Board
The five-member County Board is the governing body of Arlington vested with its legislative powers. Members are elected at-large for staggered four year terms and the Chairmanship rotates annually. Click here to view terms of office and next election dates.
2013 Neighborhood Town Halls and Town Walks
During 2013, the County Board will hold a series of eight Neighborhood Town Halls and two Neighborhood Town Walks, holding them in every corner of Arlington. County residents are welcome to attend any session to speak directly with County Board Members on any topic. Just come to the scheduled session -- you do not need an appointment. Responsibilities
- Make County policy decisions that are administered by the County Manager
- Make land use and zoning decisions
- Set tax rates and annual County budget (see the County Board Guidance for the FY 2014 Budget)
- Respond to constituent concerns (email a concern)
- Appoint community members to Advisory Commissions and Task Forces (apply for membership)
- Appoint County Manager, County Attorney and Clerk to the County Board
- Serve on Regional Groups and Commissions
