Mission Statement
The Special Operations Section has a variety of specialized units with unique responsibilities dedicated to serving the communities needs. Units assigned to the Special Operations Section are:
All of these units are focused in supporting community policing and problem solving initiatives undertaken by the police department.
A majority of our effort is committed to the reduction of traffic accidents and traffic violations through problem solving, collaboration and enforcement. Our efforts also include providing safe and efficient flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic including a safe environment for student’s en route to school and home. All significant special events in Arlington County are effectively coordinated and manage by providing additional auxiliary staffing resources, traffic control and working closely with many other agencies. We provide professional escorts and protection to high profile dignitary visitors and funeral escorts to the community.
We are also committed to the enforcement of parking violations and locating those offenders whom have unresolved violations. Moreover, we are committed to the surveillance, detection and apprehension of criminals in close cooperation and collaboration with the four Patrol Districts and the Criminal Investigations Section.
