Dog Licenses

 

Notice: The Arlington County Code prohibits more than three dogs per household, unless approved by the zoning administrator and a kennel license has been obtained.

If your dog is more than four months old, it must be vaccinated against rabies and be licensed with the County.     Angus the dog
This is required by Virginia Law and the Code of Arlington County.
Service dogs are not required to obtain an Arlington County dog license.

License applications may be obtained at the shelter, all Arlington veterinarians, or by calling the Treasurer's Office at 703-228-3080. You may print and complete a license application (27K PDF Format ).

When you submit the license application, please enclose a copy of a valid rabies certificate and a check covering the cost of a dog tag. The Treasurer's Office will mail the tag to you.
