The Office of Voter Registration occasionally has permanent or seasonal openings, and Electoral Board is constantly seeking civic-minded citizens to work at the polls on Election Days. In addition, we provide several volunteer opportunities.
There are currently no openings for permanent positions with the Office of Voter Registration and Electoral Board. For more information about jobs in Arlington County, please visit the Arlington County Jobs page.
The Office of Voter Registration occasionally has openings for seasonal workers in the fall leading up to the November election. We will definitely be seeking a significant number of seasonal workers in 2012, and more information about applying for those positions will be posted here after June 1, 2012.
If you'd like to assist the Office of Voter Registration, please also consider some of our volunteer opportunities below or working at the polls on Election Day.
If you are a registered voter in Virginia and available all day on Election Day (from 5:00 a.m. until approximately 9:00 p.m. or later), you can apply to serve Arlington County as an Officer of Election. Election Officers set up precincts for the election; check voters' names off precinct lists; provide assistance and instructions in using the voting machines; tabulate the results at the close of the polls; and clean up the polling place. Pay is $150 for the day and pre-election training is included.
Over 600 Officers of Election are needed to work at Arlington's polling places. If you have never worked at the polls, this is a great opportunity to give it a try and at the same time perform a valuable public service.
For more information, and to complete an application, please visit our Election Officers section.
The Office of Voter Registration is continually seeking civic-minded citizens interested in performing voter registration and education duties throughout the community, including twice-annual visits to County high schools to register students as they turn 18.
