Arlington County Local Government is organized into Departments which report to the County Manager, who is appointed by the County Board. In addition to these administrative departments, the organization of Arlington County Government includes offices for elected and appointed officials, the Courts (a.k.a. Judicial Services), and for Public Schools.

Provide expertise in transportation issues and ensure robust infrastructure for the future; conducts environmental planning and analysis for Arlington County on such topics as watershed management, storm water management, Chesapeake Bay protection, environmental site assessment, and Green Buildings; provides utilities services such as meter reading and billing for water, sewer, and refuse/recycling accounts; provide a systematic and thorough approach for capital projects and engineering activities; and manages existing County assets, including facilities and equipment.
