Housing Goals & Targets

In December 2000, the County Board adopted the original nine Affordable Housing Goals and in December 2003, the County Board adopted targets for those Affordable Housing Goals. In March 2011, the County Board voted to revise the County’s Affordable Housing Goals and Targets, adding the prevention/ending of homelessness and sustainable development as goals and adopting targets to meet those goals. The goals and targets establish a long-term vision and articulate ideal parameters for affordable housing. The targets offer a quantitative way to measure progress toward achievement of the goals.

2003	Targets Report: Arlington's Goals And Targets For Affordable Housing At its December 6 meeting, the Arlington County Board approved a set of measurable targets to help preserve and increase affordable housing in the County and track progress toward achieving the adopted housing goals. 2002	Housing Needs Survey Report (PDF Format): The County's 2002 Housing Needs Report details the results of a survey of over 1,400 households in Arlington conducted in February and March 2002. The survey was designed to determine the level of housing need in the County. 2001	Proposed Outcome Measures for Affordable Housing, 2001 (PDF Format) Based on the adopted housing goals, this report includes key outcome measures, in addition to a narrative on County progress toward meeting the goals in FY 2000-2001.
2000	Affordable Housing Task Force Report (PDF Format )* released. Following an intensive yearlong review of existing housing policies, programs and best practices in other jurisdictions, this report provides the Task Force’s recommended improvements to the County’s affordable housing policies, goals and programs. County Board adopted new Affordable Housing Principles and Goals ( PDF Format) to guide housing policy in Arlington.
