Fire Station No. 3 Completed!

The opening of a new firehouse is always a very special occasion for any community. On July 29, 2011, Arlington will officially dedicate its newest firehouse, Fire Station No. 3, located in the Cherrydale neighborhood.

The new fire station is a state-of-the-art facility that meets the needs of our growing community and supports our firefighters. With greater capacity for emergency response equipment and a green, sustainable design, the station is a real-life example of Arlington’s commitment to community service and to the environment.

Open House: Saturday, July 30, 10-2

The Arlington County Fire Department (ACFD) invites the public to its Open House on Saturday, July 30, 10am-2pm. Bring the whole family – you can tour the station, meet the firefighters and check out the equipment.

You’re also welcome to join us for the official dedication ceremony on Friday, July 29, at 2pm. As part of the event, the Fire Station 3 crew will conduct a ceremonial uncoupling of a fire hose, which serves as the appropriate “ribbon-cutting” for this special building.

The New Fire Station No. 3: Features and Benefits

The new station will boast a number of features and technology to benefit Arlington’s first responders and the community. Notable design elements include:

Expanded capacity - four bays to store and maintain additional first responder and fire fighting equipment
Individual gender-neutral living spaces for fire fighters
Sustainable, environment-friendly design that meets Green Building Council LEED Silver award criteria
New curb, gutters and sidewalks on 21st Rd. N. from Lee Highway to N. Stafford St.
Public green space on the south side of the relocated 21st Rd. N.
Architectural features to match the feel of the community
Off-street parking for fire station staff
