Stream restoration was one of the main recommendations from the 2001 Watershed Management Plan. Goals of stream restoration are to create a more stable stream channel, reconnect the channel with a flood plain area, reduce stream bank erosion, and improve stream habitat. Projects are selected using criteria such as severity of channel erosion, threats to nearby infrastructure (sanitary sewer lines, trails, etc.), potential for restoration, and community support. A stream inventory was recently completed that will help prioritize future stream restoration projects (see link below).
