Clarendon House offers a wide variety of computer training through the computer center, where members practice their skills and are able to work with volunteers to create resumes and/or type articles for the Clarendon House newsletter. The computers of the center have been donated by members of the community.

Lunch is prepared by members and staff daily. Members and staff work together to plan, shop for, and prepare the meals. Building relationships is a key factor in the success of the rehabilitation program. Members also have the opportunity to run the Clubhouse Cafe, the program's snack bar.

Members and staff of Clarendon House work together to operate the program Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The emphasis is on providing general work experience. In addition to employment placements, Clarendon House has 4 work units—communications, maintenance, food-special services, and recovery unit—that provide members with tasks that increase their feelings of self-esteem and self-worth, and develop a sense of community.

One of the main goals of Clarendon House is to find employment for its members. The Clarendon House staff works closely with the Job Avenue program to seek out employment opportunities for consumers with serious mental illness. Members may be placed in transitional employment slots, which are basic skilled, temporary jobs in the community. Currently members are working at CVS, Giant, Arlington Public Schools, Mister Days, Restaurant 3 and Whitlows on Wilson. Members may also be placed in independent positions in the community either full-time or part-time.

"It is through continuous support and donations that we are able to help consumers reach their goals and aspirations," states Rebecca Wright, Clarendon House Team Leader.
