All winter camp registration begins November 28 for residents and December 5 for non-resident unless otherwise indicated. Check listing below to find out how to register. Questions call 703-228-1856.

Camp Abrakadoodle: A Stampede of Art
It’s an Abrakadoodle Stampede of fun when students create a portfolio to fill with all types of print and stamp art. Various printing techniques will be shown from Gyotaku to bubble printing. Hand print art and even carving your own personal stamp are also explored. Learn about the different types of printing including relief and lithography while studying many ways to stamp! Children must bring a snack each day (please avoid sending foods that contain peanuts). Children must be potty trained. Staff to participant ratio: 1:8.

Mystery Academy: Magic Craft Holiday Camp
This fun, active program is designed for children who are interested in constructing their own props, tricks and magic apparatus in order to perform magic with a holiday theme. Make your own trick cards, make a Magic Paper Christmas Tree, and paint and create your own magic wand! This Holiday Camp incorporates holiday craft projects into Magic Tricks! All supplies are included in the camp fee. Campers must provide their own snacks, lunch and beverages. Staff to participant ratio: 1:10.

Silver Knights Chess Camp
It’s your move, so strategize to spend a week playing and learning about chess. Our Silver Knights chess coaches are highly rated professional chess instructors. We have taught tens of thousands of children, including the 2008 national champions for first and second grade. We accept players of all skill levels, from beginners to tournament players. Campers will be broken up accordingly. Each camper receives a t-shirt and tournament-style chess set. Campers will take breaks for snacks and fresh air, and full day campers have lunch and recess from 12-1 pm. Staff to participant ratio: 1:10.

Introductory Olympic Sport Fencing
Often called "the physical game of chess" and "the noble sport," fencing requires mental strength and quickness, and improves coordination, balance, speed and grace. Students use the Foil (a light training sword) and are introduced to the Sabre (the modern equivalent of the cavalry sword) and Epee (the modern equivalent of the dueling sword). Safety tipped swords, protective jackets, masks, and gloves make fencing one of the safest sports. A waiver form signed by a parent/legal guardian is due on the first day of class. Staff to participant ratio: 1:15.

All American Sports Camp
Get active and have fun this winter at the ultimate sports camp! Campers will participate in basketball, soccer, flag football, team handball, wiffleball and floor hockey, as well as a variety of lead up group games. Camp Director Allan Glascock is a special education teacher at Wakefield High School with more than 15 years of coaching experience in basketball, football and baseball. Campers participate in skill instruction, games and tournaments. Each camper receives a camp T-shirt or water bottle. Staff to participant ratio: 1:12.

Momentum³ Basketball Camp
Winter Break Camp offers all the same great counselors, top-notch instruction, and fun as our summer camp programs. Our camps emphasize individual skills, basic fundamentals and team play in a positive – FUN environment. Sciensational Workshop: Hyper Peppy Robot
Build and take home your own sound activated Rockit Robot. Use the clap of your hands or the sound of your voice to get it moving. As a result of its very sensitive touch/sound sensor when it comes in contact with an object it will automatically go into reverse, and then turn left before embarking on a new course. You will see first-hand, the many gears, circuit board, microphone, and its easy to assemble mechanical drive system. You will be amazed by its speed and the ability to adjust its sensitivity to sound. The completed project will help build self-confidence. You will also get to build other robots as a part of a small group. Be a part of robotic technology and have fun investigating the future effects it will have on our lives. You will be the super science sleuths with this workshop! Have fun learning about forensics, crime scene investigations, and crime lab chemistry as you perform as many as 15 different experiments designed to show you just how those tricky cases are solved. Search for the evidence, gather clues, and discover how science can help solve a mystery. Participants will: dust for fingerprints, analyze handwriting, test for blood type using simulated blood, examine hair and clothing fibers, practice chemistry to identify mystery substances and much more. Winter Break Camp for Teens with Disabilities
Teens with intellectual and developmental disabilities will love this therapeutic recreation camp. Moderate to extensive support including assistance with personal care needs is provided with a ratio of 1:2 or 1:3. All campers engage in theme-based recreation that encourages social interaction and development. Campers get to choose from a variety of offerings including sensory and auditory activities, expressive and creative arts, sports, fitness, field trips and more! Activity Code 202011A.

Winter Break Mini-Camp at Gulf Branch Nature Center
Register child only. Winter can be a great time to get outside and play. Bundle up and join us as we explore icy creeks, follow tracks in the snow, cook over the campfire, and more. Every day great activities, crafts and hands-on encounters with animals will be balanced with unstructured time kids can call their own.

Everyone could use an extra hand around the holidays; we'd like to lend you one. Register ahead and drop your kiddies off at Long Branch Nature Center while you shop 'til you drop! We'll keep them busy from noon to 4pm with fun and educational games, crafts, animal encounters and a few short films. Stay for all or part of the time. Parent Night Out on Dec. 16
Parents, let us watch the kids ages 4-12 at Carver Community Center on Dec. 16 from 6-9pm while you take the night off! Holiday Drop & Shop at Barcroft Dec. 17
Parents, let us watch the kids at Barcroft Sports & Fitness Center on Dec. 17 from 5-9pm while you take the night off! Kids ages 4-12 will enjoy fun-filled, age-appropriate activities such as obstacle courses, tumble tramp, foam pit, games and more. $10 per child. Activity #: 110503A (Ages 4-6), 110503B (Ages 7-12).
