The listing below provides information on after school programs, evening programs, what do on teacher work days and holidays, teen centers, and even a listing of the many sports programs teens can enjoy in Arlington. After School Teen Programs

Teens have fun, make new friends and develop skills at our after school programs. Center-based programs, held September to mid-June, can include music, dance, games, cooking, art, sport games, and activities chosen by teen participants. For more info contact the specific center for details.

Evening Teen Programs

Teens Making a Difference (TMAD)

Are you a teen or know a teen who is dedicated to making a difference in their community? If so the TMAD, Teens Making a Difference program wants you! TMAD offers community service, life skills, community projects, special events as well as other drop-in recreation activities for teens.

Regular TMAD meetings start January 26 and occur every Tuesday from 6-9pm at Lubber Run Center. This free program is the perfect opportunity for teens to give back to their community; in addition students have the chance to earn a stipend for work-learning programs. Apply today! Jobs and Internship Programs: Come Grow with Us!

A 12-week job training and internship program in the field of parks, recreation and conservation. Must be an Arlington resident between the ages of 13-17. Includes mandatory overnight retreat in September for the Fall session and in March for the Spring session, followed by a 10-week paid internship working side by side with a recreation professional. 703-228-7781 or e-mail the Office for Teens.

Make a Difference: Be a Volunteer

  • There are so many ways teens can be a resource to the community!
  • Be event staff at a cultural celebration or other special event.
  • Help maintain a park, clean up a stream or bike trail, or remove invasive plants.
  • Tutor elementary age children in after school programs.
  • Assist in leading children in arts and crafts, sports, games and other recreational activities.
