Congratulations: Arlington’s Sam Fox Won the Washington Wizards Care Community Assist Award

To say Sam Fox has been a long-time volunteer coach with Arlington County Department of Parks and Recreation is an understatement. Sam has dedicated decades to providing Arlington’s youth positive, fun, and education experiences on his teams. He is coming up on his 46th year as a volunteer baseball coach, 30 years as a volunteer youth basketball coach, and 15 years as a volunteer youth football coach. Sam has coached in Arlington since he himself played sports for and graduated from Arlington’s Wakefield High School. Among his many honors, he has earned the 2008 Sportsman of the Year through the Arlington Better Sports Club, entry to the Arlington Little League Hall of Fame, and multiple years as a travel basketball coach of the year. In addition to his dedication to Arlington’s youth, Sam provided the County 35 years of service working for the Department of Parks and Recreation before he retired 5 years ago. He continues to coach today and his enthusiastic coaching style has positively impacted the lives of over a 1,000 Arlington youths.

Sam Fox has won the Wizards Care Community Assist Award for his dedication to volunteer coaching. He was presented the award during halftime of the Wizards' February 8th game.
