It's no secret...exercise, recreation, social fun, and opportunities to learn and grow make life richer at any age. Arlington's Senior Adult Programs office provides a wide range of ways for people 55 and over to find enjoyment and practice a healthy lifestyle.

55+ Wellness Retreat

Activities include: Yoga and Meditation, Health & Wellness Workshops, Cheese making & tour of an organic farm, Journal Writing, Fitness Classes with Fit2be, Nature Walks, Knitting and crocheting, De-cluttering and Downsizing, Camp Fire with entertainment and more!

Law Day To Focus on Elder Rights

Elder Rights: No Courts, No Justice, No Freedom is the theme of the 2012 annual Senior Law Day to be held Thursday, May 17, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. at the Arlington County Central Library, 1015 N. Quincy Street. The Honorable Joanne F. Alper, Judge in the 17th Judicial Court of Virginia, will headline this year's event.

Also on the agenda are The Honorable Theo Stamos, newly elected Commonwealth Attorney, the Honorable Bob Brink, delegate to the General Assembly representing the 48th District and Elizabeth Wildhack, attorney at law specializing in elder law.

Senior Law Day will feature informational exhibits by age related agencies. In addition, the Arlington Sheriff's Office will be issuing free photo identification cards and the Office of the Commonwealth Attorney will offer free emergency cell phones. There will be no admission charge.

Inclement Weather Closings

All Senior Centers will close when Arlington County Schools close for inclement weather. When Arlington County Schools open two hours late, seniors centers will open at noon, but lunch programs and transportation services at Walter Reed, Langston-Brown and Arlington Mill-Fairlington will be canceled for the day. For Saturday Programs please call the Arlington County Inclement Weather Line at 703-228-4715.

Young seniors “Flourishing After 55” especially invites adults just entering their retirement years to enrich this phase of their lives. Come and explore the possibilities in the Flourishing After 55 section full of information, or use keyword “flourishing” when you enter the Arlington website.
