Flu Central: Seasonal and H1N1 Flu Information

Protect yourself and those you love…  make it a no flu 4 you winter!

Follow these simple steps to reduce your chances of becoming ill with influenza:

  • Get vaccinated against influenza.
    • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that everyone six months of age and older be vaccinated against influenza.
    • This year the vaccine is available in both mist and shot forms and protects against three strains of Influenza, including H1N1
  • Wash your hands.  If soap and running water are not available use an alcohol based hand sanitizer.  Wash before you prepare food, before you eat, after you use the bathroom, and after you sneeze, cough, or blow your nose.
  • Cover your cough (and sneezes too!).  Cough or sneeze into a tissue or your sleeve (or into your elbow) to avoid spreading germs to others.
  • Stay home from work or school when you are sick to avoid spreading illness to others.
  • Stay away from those who are ill.
